Without A Trace by Carolyn Keene

This is a Nancy Drew detective case and all though it is quite an easy book to read I really enjoyed it. This book is about two cases. First there is a case about someone mashing up zucchinis in people's gardens. One of the men accuses a man called Mr Salter and Nancy doesn't think that he would do such a thing. So who was the zucchini masher?

The other case is about a French women who has moved with her nephew to River Heights. This women owns a real Faberge egg and it is her prised possession. Suddenly the egg goes missing, but nothing else of value does. A couple of hours before the egg went missing the nephew had some friends come over from France to stay. Could it have been one of them?

To find out both of the answers you will have to read the book. I really enjoyed this book even though it was very easy. I would give it a 7 out of 10.

The Black Riders by Violet Needham

This is another book that Michaela sent to me! I actually finished this last week but what with being ill, catching up work and revising for Maths exams I haven't had a chance to blog!

This book is about a young boy called Dick. He is an orphan but he lives with foster parents. This book is set around 1945. Dick has always wanted to be one of the Black Riders, a group of people.
But then one day Dick finds himself with an enemy of the Black Riders, Far Away Moses, who always seems faraway when he's being hunted down.

Dick finds out more and more about Far Away Moses and really likes him. He begins to hate the Black Riders. Dick finds himself wound up in a private war between Far Away Moses' side and The Black Riders.

Dick becomes one of the enemies of the Black Riders and he begins to live with Far Away Moses. He begins to learn about his father and people who knew him. This book has amazing twists and is really interesting! It is very exciting and you never know what is going to happen next. I loved this book and I would give it an 8 out of 10. Thank you Michaela for letting me borrow this book!

Cat amongst the pigeons by Julia Golding

This is by me Daisy Locket.

It is called cat among the pigeons by Julia Golding

This book is the seakell of The Diamond of Drury lane by Julia Golding . It is also a fab book i hope you liked it or you will like it if you read it .

Pedro used to be a salve when he and his family where captered by the slave traders and sold to a man called Mr Hawkins and he comes back to get Pedro. It's great but some bits are a little freaky and scary.

Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster

This was another fantastic book sent to me and my mum by Diana! I really enjoyed this book and found it very interesting.

This book is about a girl of about 18 who has lived in an orphanage all of her life. She is called Jerusha Abbott but she hates Jerusha so she changes her name to Judy. One of the founders of the orphanage sees a piece of her excellent writing and think that she is good enough to go to college. He sends her to a girls college which is very different from the orphanage.

In exchange for the fees of being sent to the college, Judy is told that she must write letters to the man who sent her to the college, but not to expect any back. She knows absolutely nothing about this man. She is told that she must write them to Mr John Smith, but she calls him Daddy Long Legs in his letters. Judy has no idea if he even reads her letters or just chucks them in the bin!

I really enjoyed this book as the letters that Judy writes get more and more interesting about her life and what's happening.

I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys reading books with letters in them as it was a really great read! Thank you Diana! I would definitely give it a 9 out of 10.

Feather Boy by Nicky Singer

I really enjoyed this book as I thought it was great. I have also seen the TV version of it which was on when I was a bit younger but I was happy to remind myself of the story again! Thank you Michaela for letting me borrow this book!
Feather Boy is about a boy called Robert Nobel who gets badly bullied at school. The boy who bullies him is called Niker and he really hates Robert or Norbert as he calls him.

One day a woman called Catherine comes into Robert's class, she says she wants some volunteers to do a course with the Elders at an Elderly home nearby. The Elder that Robert gets is an old woman called Edith Sorrel. Everybody thinks that Edith is a bit mental with old age.

Edith starts asking Robert to do things for her, she asks him to go to an old derelict house called Chance House in St Aybuns. Rumour has it that a boy who thought that he could fly jumped out of the top floor there and that he fell to his death. Edith Sorrel tells Robert to go there and she also tells him that he can fly. At one point Edith even asks Robert to make her a coat of feathers to save her.

This was a really interesting book about how Robert deals with the bullying and about how he solves out the mystery about the connection between the boy who died and Edith Sorrel. I really enjoyed this book and I give it a 9 out of 10. Thank you Michaela for letting me borrow this book!

Sorry that I haven't blogged in ages but I've been ill :0(

Curtain Up / Theatre Shoes by Noel Sreatfeild

This is another book sent to me by Ladydi. This is sometimes known as Curtain Up and sometimes as Theatre Shoes. The version Diana sent me is called Curtain Up. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was great! (Are my posts all starting to sound like that, sorry if they are it's just because I love all of these books!)

Curtain Up is about the three Forbes children; Sorrel, Mark and Holly. This book is set during World War Two. It is about how the three children are sent to London to live with their grandmother. Grandmother soon sends the three children to Madame Fidolia's Academy of Dancing and Stage Training. Those of you who have read or watched Ballet Shoes also by Noel Streatfeild will know that this is the same academy that the Fossil sisters (Pauline, Petrova and Posy) went to.

The Forbes children know that they have a lot of expectations to live up to. Their mother was a Warren and the Warren family are meant to have great abilities on the stage. Sorrel is particularly good at acting, Mark is good at singing and also imagining himself as other creatures in other places, Holly is quite good at dancing.

I really enjoyed this book as it mirrors Ballet Shoes. This was I great book and I loved it so I am going to give it a 9 out of 10.
